Connected Textures Mod 1.17.1, 1.16.5 – Extend Vanilla Model with CTM

What is Connected Textures Mod?

Extending the vanilla model system with Connected Textures Mod 1.17.1, 1.16.5 (CTM) allows for much more complicated contextual rendering. Resource packs can use this mod to offer related textures, emissive rendering, and more.

In terms of rendering, this mod aims to follow the rules as much as possible. This means that for 1.7-style rendering, there is no ASM hook; instead, everything is handled through baked models. CTM takes vanilla’s baked model and modifies it on the fly to accommodate the additional rendering effects given in the CTM JSON data. It also allows mods and resource packs to be completely independent of CTM; with a few more lines of JSON, they can render something completely different when CTM is installed.

Connected Textures Mod

Features

  • CTM is derived from the render code that was used to power Chisel in Minecraft 1.10.2. It was divided and converted into its own completely functional library mod since then.
  • Resource pack writers and modders can use CTM to create complicated render effects including connected textures, patterned textures, illuminating components, and more. Best of all, it does it without requiring any code modifications.
  • Everything you need is provided to the resource system via model and mcmeta JSON files, so you can utilize CTM without ever writing a line of code.

Requires

  • Minecraft Forge.
